8A. Prepson Scholar β€” Additional AI Terms

Prepson Scholar is an AI research co-pilot that helps final-year students draft, cite, analyse, and prepare for defence. In addition to the general terms in section 8 above, the following apply whenever you use Scholar:

  • The project is yours. Draft chapters, abstracts, defence answers, code, and statistical explanations produced by Scholar are working aids, not a finished submission. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, and academic integrity of anything you submit to your university.
  • Citations must be verified. Every citation Scholar produces is grounded in a real scholarly source that was retrieved at the time of drafting. You remain responsible for confirming that each source exists, is correctly cited in your reference list, and that the quoted claim accurately reflects the source. Scholarly databases, DOIs, and metadata can change over time.
  • Statistics come from your data. Scholar computes statistical analyses from the dataset you upload; the AI does not invent numbers. Correctness of your dataset, choice of statistical test, and interpretation of the result all remain your responsibility.
  • Code must be reviewed. Code Scholar generates has not been tested against your environment. Run it, review it, and understand it before submitting or defending it. Executing any code inside Scholar's sandbox is a testing aid, not a security guarantee.
  • Defence rehearsal is not a guarantee. Preparing with Scholar's defence pack does not guarantee outcomes at your panel. You remain responsible for genuinely understanding your project.
  • Follow your department's policy. Different Nigerian institutions have different rules on the use of AI in student work. You are responsible for knowing and following your department's policy. Prepson is not liable for disciplinary action arising from institutional policies you did not observe.
  • Grounding is best-effort. Retrieval sources (CrossRef, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, and other partners) can be unavailable, incomplete, or return outdated metadata. When retrieval fails, Scholar clearly labels the state; the responsibility for handling the gap sits with you.
  • Uploaded content. Datasets, department handouts, and other files you upload to Scholar remain your property. You grant Prepson a limited licence to process them solely for delivering Scholar's features to you. We do not sell or share them.
  • Remedy limit. Nothing in this section 8A limits the limitation of liability in section 10. Your maximum remedy for any Scholar-generated content is a refund of the amount you paid for the affected project.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

PREPSON IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free service

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PREPSON SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR EXAM RESULTS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Prepson harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of our services.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved through:

  1. Good faith negotiation
  2. Mediation (if negotiation fails)
  3. Nigerian courts (as a last resort)

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
